Captain America: The First Commercial

I do sort-of wish the first look at this was a proper, more deliberately-paced "story trailer" as opposed to a frenetic action/action/joke/action/joke/joke/action/joke Superbowl spot; but otherwise FUCK YEAH, looks good. Suit looks great in motion, overall palette looks much more Raiders than Ryan (good call) and Chris Evans looks 100% believable.

Two things to look out for: That looks like The Howling Commandos flanking Cap going through the door, and it looks like (at least at some point) Hugo Weaving is actually wearing a human mask over his (100% source-faithful) Red Skull face; which is a fun twist considering it's usually the reverse.

Have been mighty skeptical about this movie for some time now... I'm officially sold.
12:01 showing here I come.

Man, Dum Dum Dugan's attire is even more classy in real life.

It's a Super Bowl ad, what do you expect?

Yeah, it was awesome. Still, I'm waiting for the story trailer. My favorite spoot though was Cowboys and Aliens. A closer look at the alien ships + Daniel Craig doing his badass thing? Hell yeah.
Olivia Wilde in the flesh was a hell of a bonus.

I'm actually not a fan of the suit in motion. I'd honestly prefer to see the color palette be more Ryan and less Raiders, because under the former the mood and lighting would allow me to take even the classic comic costume in modern-day live action film extremely seriously.

I'm still rather skeptical...... though Hugo Weaving's Red Skull is rather spot-on.

Also he does look kind of goofy when he runs, and when he swings on that thing. That's kind of what bothers me.

Him in costume? Ehhhh, not sold.

Him as Rogers? Yes. In fact, I remain resolute with a previous statement of mine that I'd prefer him in costume if he kept the helmet off.

Looks pretty awesome. However, I didn't expect to see Tommy Lee Jones at 0:10. That makes things really interesting. Red Skull looks pretty spot-on, too. Totally looking forward to seeing this now. :)

I missed this. Now, I saw it. It's a teaser, sure, but I was teased by Spider Man, and I was sold. That said, I'm still pretty sold on it. Now, where's that Thor teaser, Bob?

Just kidding.

I saw that teaser, and it was pretty solid.

I'm also noticing in the frame with the Capt. coming through the double doors all geared up there's a man to his left, being our right, with a bowler hat and a wicked mustache with a shotgun... I believe we have our Union Jack.

BabyMelter said...

Nicholas, the guy with the bowler hat is Dum Dum Dugan of the Howling Commandos. If anyone were Union Jack in that frame it would be the gentleman on our extreme left. He's wearing a beret, which weren't utilized by the US in WWII. That would be our Union Jack.

Hey look! It’s America’s own Aryan Super-Soldier.

liquidid_2m3og3k, you are not saying anything that hasn't been joked about 1,000's of times elsewhere. Seriously, it's old hat.

Good one, how very original of you... (facepalm)

Yeah, it's the swinging on the...thing, whatever it is....that bugs me the most too. First half of the trailer was pretty great, though...

The one thing I wont to see in this movie is caption America punching Hitler in the face
