"Three Stooges" Looks Worse Than You Thought

Apple has the trailer for the Farrelly Bros. modern reboot of "The Three Stooges." I'll post an embed when I get one, but for now go and feel my pain.

Ye gods, what did anyone do to deserve this? For all the care taken to get the actors looking "right" and match the old-timey sound effects; how did NO ONE notice (or care) that they have NONE of the actual Stooges' gift for physical comedy? And are we really, honestly doing "sexy nun" jokes in 2011?

Here's my standard rule for comedy movies.

If there is a genital joke in the trailer, then the movie is going to suck!

by default.

I counted fucking three genital jokes in this trailer! that's a new record for teaser trailers! it's going to be so painful isn't it.

You know a film company has nothing to advertise a film with when they just advertise themselves.

On the one hand, Snooki does get hurt in the trailer, and anything that harms her automatically gets points in my book.

On the other hand, there's the ENTIRE REST OF THE TRAILER. I might vomit.

Ya know I usually have this little tick, with bad comedies I find myself laughing at the shitty punchlines and gags anyways, I guess out of some sense of shock that they had the audacity to do whatever it was they were doing.

I was still unable to even smile during that trailer.

Geez, that was almost as bad as a Game Overthinker skit.

As a fan of the Stooges from a young age, that was especially painful to watch. Especially the last bit at the end with the Moe "having a present" for Snooki. Moe may have been a jerk, but at least he had the common courtesy NOT TO DO THAT KINDA THING TO A LADY! Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna wash that trailer out of my mind with one of my favorite Stooge shorts that's actually pretty damn funny. Maybe "Men in Black", which was the only one of 'em to receive an Oscar nod. *goes to YouTube* Calling Dr. Howard, Dr. Fine, Dr. Howard... XD

Oh, and Anonymous 4:03, that's a totally unfair comparison. At least Bob's deadpan humor makes me laugh as well as keeps me informed. I hesitate to make this comparison, but he's similar to George Carlin in that regard. :)

^ HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! NO.

Please tell me the man (it clearly is) dressed as a nun who finds the baby Stooges isn't Larry David. If it is, NO! WHY LARRY!? WHY!?

And to think, for the longest time I believed that Bob was jumping to conclusions, and the film wouldn't be that terrible.

Then again, I never was that crazy about the Farrellys, even before it became "cool" to not like them.

Since I am thus unable to unsee that I present this

A mashup of good movie trailers from this past 2011.

If that doesn't help, I hear bleach helps take the bad memories away.

I think you're on the money bob.

I have a really hard time judging this. I mean, I know I'm not laughing, but I don't know _why_ I'm not laughing.

Then I tried to think of the last time I enjoyed a physical comedy movie with weird characters _at all_.

This is what I came up with:

Which is incredibly understated by comparison both to what goes on in this trailer

I could bring up other recent examlpes of physical comedy, like the pink panther 2, or even the older ones, like dumb and dumber? Even _those_ don't try as hard, or are as overstated as the comedy in this trailer...and dumb dumber tries ridiculously hard:

Here's the thing: What makes the new trailer bad is, for the most part, the similarities with the original stooges skits, rather than the differences. I'm inclined to say that you couldn't make a 3 stooges movie today even with the perfect cast, which this probably isn't.

I might be wrong though. None of the physical comedy trailers I've looked up on youtube have made me laugh. The one that came closest was this one:

Wow, that was stupid and insulting. It should be really popular with fans of the original source material!

You're being too harsh about this film. Sure, The Stooges are in modern times but do you think they could have fit anywhere else? The response: probably, but the writers felt that they belong in 2012 for the latest generation to laugh at their antics and hopefully check out the classic shorts that inspired their revival. Similar to how 'The Muppets' brought back the lovable felt creatures back from extinctions, despite their ads turning me off from seeing the film at first, 'The Three Stooges' (2012) looks like it will tickle a funny bone here and make us laugh at how we live in Jersey Shore loving, tech-savvy, and womanizing world. I have to wonder why Steven Collins joined the project. 'No Ordinary Family' wasn't bad. He wasn't my first choice as the villain, like he'll be in the film but like 'Family', it can work. Jennifer Hudson? All for the money and wanting to return to theaters after being part of the 'Sex and the City' film series in 2008.

I think I lost some important brain cells.

Also, why does Bob keep getting unoriginal douchebag trolls?

I predict WORST movie of the year. I just don't understand WHY this was even made, so completely unnecessary.

@Sofie_Liv_Pedersen What were the other two? I mean, we all caught the Lobster Bit (Which I really enjoyed, to be honest) So what were the other two?

@Dev's_Media_Reviews I'm with you man. I saw nothing in this trailer that felt even the least bit un-Stoogie to me. Frankly, this is how I'd imagine the Stooges acting no matter what era they're in. I think these people are falling into internet mob-mentality mode about this. Frankly, I'm willing to at least see it before uncatagorically declairing it sucks. And yes, I recognize that it might suck. But I don't see anything here to convince me of that.

Also, @KevinCV I'd actually impale her f##king eyes on my fingers, Freddy style! As far as I'm concerned, Moe can do whatever he wants to that bitch!

Why I oughta....
I will stick with my classics. Though, I am impressed at the resemblance of the thick three to their forefathers.
