Have One Last Funny XMas Thingee

The Nostalgia Critic (whom you should all be watching anyway - hardworking dude doing great material) got hit by some computer issues in the midst of his December shows, but has now finished airing his run of planned XMas episodes anyway with a review of one of my all-time favorite "WTF?" cult-classics: "Santa Claus: The Movie."

Give it a watch before you put the last of your lights and such away ;)

I like this film too, I didn't know it was considered a cult classic. John Lithgow is pure over the top awesome... how can you not love a villain who's motivation is literally to steal Christmas?

I can't wait for the Critic's Star Trek month, although I don't know how much of the franchise he can reasonably expect to cover in three or for episodes. Plus Sfdebris already did absolutely brilliant reviews of all the movies (if you like Star Trek and you don't watch Sfdebris' reviews, FIX THAT) so I'm not sure what the Nostalgia Critic can add except the usual screaming.

So I've been curious about the Santa Claus movie for a while so I actually gave in and watched this. I nearly didn't make it through the Santa Christ bit. Igh.

I thought I was the only one who enjoyed "Santa Claus: The Movie". Thank God for that. I concur with Popcorn Dave. John Lithgow is definitely awesome in it. Hell, I think John Lithgow is awesome in almost anything.

But the highlight of the movie for me has got to be Dudley Moore's elf character Patch. Especially the scene where he's about to shoot a commercial, and he's quibbling about how the North Pole in it doesn't look like the genuine article. :)

@Popcorn Dave: It's tucked in at the end credits, but the Critic specifies that he'll be doing the odd-numbered "Trek" movies (since, as the conventional wisdom goes, those are the bad/worse ones of the series), so that should help make it a manageable number. Admittedly, the recent computer virus he's been dealing with that's forced a lot of his uploads back a week means he won't actually be done in January, but even so the number of movies he'll get to should at least be able to cover the "Classic" series (i.e. from "The Motion Picture" up to "The Undiscovered Country").

I've really been enjoying the Doug Walker's output of late. The last several Nostalgia Critic episodes have all been top-notch funny, his Disneycember series is an interesting (if somewhat shallow) exploration of the Walt Disney phenomenon, and I finally started watching his "That Guy With The Glasses" videos which, unsurprisingly, I find quite funny. Admittedly this "Santa Claus" review isn't on the high end for me; it's all perfectly fine, of course, and as always he hones in on just the right moments of sheer absurdity to highlight, but it just wasn't as gut-bustingly hilarious as, say, his "Doug" review, or the "Felix The Cat: The Movie" review for me. Even so, definitely a good Christmas capstone.

the nostalgia critic can go fuck himself. Make my ears bleed listening to him and his annoying voice when he's yelling at the camera.
